When: Thursday, September 9, 2021. 9:00 AM Location: Lake Erie Transit Terminal 1105 W. Seventh Street, Monroe, MI 48161 Lake Erie Transit is proposing to eliminate their Saturday Fixed Routes and ADA service. It will be replaced with a more convenient reservation based curb-to-curb service. This service will require a call-in reservation by the Thursday prior to the desired Saturday transportation. Service hours will be 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Medical and Work trips will receive priority. The meeting may be attended in person or via Zoom. Service Changes Effective Monday, July 19, 2021, Until Further Notice

Lake Erie Transit is indispensable to many Monroe County residents. LET has always attempted to provide the best services with the resources they are given. Faithful to our passengers, services never closed down due to the COVID-19 virus. After much deliberation and in response to industry-wide driver shortages and lower than normal ridership numbers, Lake Erie Transit will be making some temporary Route Changes effective Monday, July 19, 2021. Most important to note is the Fixed Route #2- Elm Street. LET is combining this route with the most essential parts of Route #4 – Seventh Street route. Railroad Crossings Closed

Alert! The railroad crossings are closed on the north side of town at Stewart, Mall, LaSalle and Heiss Roads. The crossings will remain closed until Thursday, June-10th or Friday-June 11th. Due to these closings, LET will be revamping their #5 and #8 Fixed Routes. #5/ Telegraph will leave the Telegraph Transfer Station and travel to Meijer, Walmart, Kohl’s, Hobby Lobby, and then go back to Big Lot, the Dollar Tree and return to the Telegraph Transfer Station. #8/North Monroe will leave downtown down and take Monroe Street to the Monroe Mall, then back to 650 & 700 Stewart, then to Macomb Street and go to Frenchtown Place, Promedica Hospital and back downtown to the bus stop in front of City Hall. Free Rides to Vaccine Clinic Sites With Proof of Appointment

Lake Erie Transit is providing free bus transportation to and from area vaccine clinics for residents and workers in Bedford, Frenchtown and Monroe with proof of appointment, the company stated. LET is joining the Michigan Public Transit System’s “Ride to Your Dose of Hope” as well as more than 450 public transit companies in 41 states providing this service. To ride free to the first vaccination appointment, riders must show the bus driver the phone text from vaccine officials. For the second shot, riders must present their vaccine card with appointment scheduled. The offer covers all LET services. Large Gillig Busses Out and About

You may see some of our bigger Gillig buses out and about this week. We have installed some new software on these buses and need to test it; and these buses have been sitting for two months and we need to run them a little and have the mechanics check them out and tune them up. THE FIXED ROUTES ARE NOT RUNNING YET. THESE BUSES WILL NOT BE PICKING UP PASSENGERS. We are still working to determine when we can ramp up services. Please be patient.
